1987 Barack Obama at the age of 26 visited his father’s homeland for the first time. He met his brothers, sisters and grandmother and later he said, the visit was to transform his life. The images below come from that trip to connect with his African roots. What a transformation from an unknown young African man to the leader of the free world.
I really enjoyed looking at the pictures of my president as a young man with his African family. I wish new something about my African heritage on my father side. I did find out that my mother’s grandmother was taken as a slave from Uganda as a young girl. I met this guy named Marcus Washington that was in the US navy he was from Ghana. I would love to reconnect with him. He was station in Portsmouth,VA and use to drive a 300ZX like myself. If anyone reading this knows him, leave a reply. thanks
It is refreshing seeing the president during his young days in Kenya. Proud that he will be visiting Kenya this July as a sitting US president!
