Doctor Shot During Burglary in Free State

A doctor in Qwa-Qwa, Free State, was transported to the intensive care unit after being shot during a heist.

On May 21, a tragic incident occurred at Mofumahadi Manapo Mopeli Regional Hospital, as reported by Sowetan Live. The unknown intruders burst into the doctors’ quarters and shot the doctor while doing the robbery. He was injured and brought to the ICU, where he is currently healing.

Mathabo Leeto, the province’s MEC for Health, has denounced the incident. Leeto promised to examine the event and tighten security at health facilities to protect doctors’ lives. Leeto also stated that life is valuable and that violent crime is a poor indication of the country’s prosperity.

Facebook users expressed relief that the doctor was not killed during the robbery attempt.
