A Gauteng mother and daughter who were reported missing during a farm attack were discovered killed.
The bodies of Hester Flemming, 52, and Cecilia Johanna Flemming, 82, were discovered in an opencast mine in Eikenhof on Monday, around 20 minutes from Sandton.
Mike Bolhuis of Specialised Security Services (SSS) stated the attack is thought to have occurred between 10 p.m. on Friday (October 25, 2024) and the early hours of Saturday morning.
He claimed that suspects gained entry by cutting through the fence and smashing the security gate at the property.
“Once inside the house was ransacked, and the suspects stole two vehicles.”
Bolhuis stated that since they were reported missing, every lead has been explored, with countless hours committed to the case.
“It is with deep sadness that we inform the public that the women were found deceased,” said Bolhuis late Monday afternoon.
He stated that the South African Police Services (SAPS) search and rescue team is currently on the scene, working to collect the dead.
“We want to extend our heartfelt condolences to the family during this difficult time.”
