On July 18, the Mdzananda Animal Clinic in Khayelitsha received 67 kennels and necessary care packages from the international animal welfare organization FOUR PAWS in observance of Mandela Day. This program honors Nelson Mandela’s legacy of community service and uplift and represents the 67 years he spent fighting for social justice.
“Mandela Day encourages us to dedicate 67 minutes of our time to community service,” said Fiona Miles, Director of FOUR PAWS. “By providing these kennels and care packages, we hope to make a lasting impact on the lives of these animals and inspire others to take action for those in need.”
The 67 kennels will shield pets from inclement weather and subpar living circumstances because they were constructed to offer a secure and cozy haven.
The Mdzananda Animal Clinic’s executive in charge of fundraising, communications, and programs, Marcelle du Plessis, expressed gratitude for the donation. “The 67 Khayelitsha dogs’ lives will be greatly improved by the donation of 67 kennels; they will now lead warmer, safer, and more comfortable lives.”
Apart from the kennels, FOUR PAWS has furnished basic necessities such as food, blankets, medical supplies, and an instructional manual on conscientious pet ownership. Miles claims that the goal of these packages is to provide the dogs with love and compassion while also enhancing their physical health and general well-being.
By means of several projects and instructional activities, FOUR PAWS persists in its advocacy for animal rights and care. Their dedication to fostering a society in which people treat animals with empathy and respect is demonstrated by their Mandela Day Project.
