Former ANC Spokesperson, Pule Mabe, Arraigned for Corruption Charges Related to R27 Million Tender

Pule Mabe, a member of the African National Congress (ANC) national executive committee and former spokesperson, reportedly surrendered to police on Wednesday and is scheduled to appear at Palm Ridge Magistrate Court.

Mabe is set to face corruption charges in connection with an R27 million tender issued unlawfully to his firm Enviro Mobi in 2017.

Enviro Mobi is accused of failing to reveal that Mabe, a member of Parliament, was the company’s owner at the time.

An probe by the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) revealed that Enviro Mobi misrepresented itself during the bidding process for the R27 million deal.

According to Newsroom Afrika, Mabe surrendered to the Douglasdale police station in Gauteng prior to his court appearance on Wednesday morning.

According to Sunday World, the Gauteng Department of Agriculture and Rural Development granted Enviro Mobi a tender in March 2017 to supply 200 three-wheel motorised rubbish collecting vehicles known as tuk-tuks.

According to the weekend newspaper, the tuk-tuks were intended for 58 rubbish pickers in the City of Ekurhuleni.
