After a 31-hour search and rescue mission, the George Municipality said that over 200 emergency personnel were still searching through the rubble for the 41 persons who were missing.
According to reports, 75 construction workers were on the site when the building fell around 14:09 on May 6, 2024.
Western Cape officials named Neo Trend ICE Projects as the business in charge of the building project, despite George Mayor Leon van Wyk’s request that the company’s name and owner not be released due to the ongoing criminal investigation.
