‘This Big Win Comes After I Have Fasted And Prayed For A While’ – KZN Resident Bags R59 Million Powerball

The R59 million Powerball jackpot winner, who is from KwaZulu-Natal, has finally collected their winnings.

The winner of the July 12 National Lottery Ithuba draw, who wished to remain anonymous, was announced in a statement by the lottery.

After using the Standard Bank banking app to make a R7,50 Quick Pick decision, the winner was announced.

The winner told Ithuba: “I play PowerBall twice a week, and I have always had faith that I will win one day. This big win comes after I have fasted and prayed for a while. I am truly grateful.“

The winner stated they shared the amazing news with their parents and intended to use some of the profits for big investments and the purchase of real estate in order to secure their financial future.

This jackpot winner, like the majority of them, stated that they intended to keep doing their day job.

The R12 million Powerball Plus jackpot winner from the July 2 drawing also claimed their money in another jackpot win.

The winner from Gauteng purchased his ticket at Pick ‘n Pay, where he made a Quick Pick pick and wagered R30 on tickets.

The winner, in the company of his wife told Ithuba: “I checked my ticket a Pick ‘n Pay, I was shocked to find out I held the winning ticket. My first reaction was that it must be an error.

“I nervously tucked the slip into my pocket and made my way to the car.

“Once inside, I double-checked the numbers, and the reality started to sink in. I decided to drive home, a short 5km journey, to sit down and verify my win in peace.

“Upon arriving home, I meticulously checked the ticket once more, confirming that I had indeed won.”

Feeling a mix of excitement and caution, he chose to hide the ticket while he researched how and where to claim his prize.

“Turning to Google for guidance, I sought out the necessary steps to secure my winnings.

“I was nervous about something happening to my ticket, like a fire, so much so that as a precautionary measure, I went around the house switching off all the electric points and the main switch, ensuring everything was safe in case of any unforeseen events.”

The happy couple, who were in their forties and Johannesburg residents, received financial and trauma counseling from Ithuba.

The wife emphasized the couple’s goal to encourage belief in the potential of winning by expressing her early skepticism towards National Lottery wins: “I really did not believe in the concept of the Lottery or that people ever win.” I want people to think that winning is conceivable and that the lottery is real.”

The pair demonstrated their dedication to ensuring their family’s future and realizing their objectives by expressing their aspirations of owning their ideal home and vehicle and going on luxurious trips like a family holiday in Dubai and a Formula 1 trip abroad.

They intended to carry on working as well.

According to Charmaine Mabuza, CEO of Ithuba, one of the most satisfying experiences is still seeing winners’ transformative moments come to pass and having them visit their companies.
