Thami and Zithobile End Their Journey at ‘Married at First Sight Mzansi’ Reunion

After what seemed like an eternity, the show’s much-anticipated reunion finally aired on Mzansi on Sunday, with Thami Nyandeni and Zithobile Sibiya ending their marriage in spectacular manner.

Some things stayed constant, while others underwent noticeable alteration.

The show was broadcast on DSTV channel 161 and Showmax, with episodes appearing every Sunday. For 13 episodes, viewers followed eight singles in an experiment to locate a husband or wife.

They trusted four relationship specialists to match them with someone they imagined would be their forever person. The experts paired them based solely on what they had, which was essentially their portfolios and brief chats with them before to the wedding.

After nine months apart, Nyandeni and Zithobile Sibiya split up, while Thabang Mvuyani and Makhumo Ngobeni resumed their romance.

The reunion episode was taped nine months after they finished filming, and the couples were left to continue their marriages outside of the experiment.

Ntombi Ngcobo-Mzolo hosted the reunion and went above and beyond for the couples. Dr. Mpume Zenda, a gynaecologist and sexologist, and clinical psychologist Anele Siswana were the experts’ representatives.

Ngcobo-Mzolo first met with Khutso Mokoena and Litsoanelo Seturumane, who confirmed that they are still together and working hard to make their relationship work.

Mokoena has met Seturumane’s son and father, but Seturumane has yet to meet Mokoena’s daughter’s mother.

The second couple to provide a life/marriage update was Nyandeni and Sibiya, who revealed that they had split up. While they were being questioned about how they got to that point, Sibiya couldn’t keep her hatred for Nyandeni hidden.

Their stories about how their relationship ended were not consistent. Sibiya stated the miscommunication and lack of care were what confirmed it for her, whereas Nyandeni said he knew it was over when he was kicked out of her house.

Nyandeni was severely injured in a car accident and was taken to the hospital, where he remained in a coma. Following his release from the hospital, Sibiya and her mother nursed him back to health. While expressing his gratitude to them for looking after him, he was perplexed as to why he was abruptly told it was time for him to depart.

The third pair, Boitshepo Mashetla and Sebenzile Ngwenya, are still together months after vowing to each other at the altar, and they have moved to Cape Town together. Little has changed for this couple, as everything appeared and sounded normal.

The only noticeable stumbling block between them appeared to be Ngwenya’s admission of having feelings for an ex. It was probed in episode 12 and appeared again in the reunion episodes.

He agrees that his choice of words at the time was not ideal, but there are no lingering sentiments with his previous companion.

The most recent couple to participate announced their return. Ngobeni and Mvuyani did not remain divorced after requesting for it during the re-commitment ceremony. They revealed that they reunited immediately after filming.

The pair has continued to work on their relationship over the last nine months, having difficult conversations about everything that has transpired, and believing that they have a fighting shot if they continue to put in the effort.

While this season comes to a close, three couples were fortunate in finding a companion, but one’s journey was cut short.
