Samthing Soweto Faces Backlash as Fans Call Out His Alleged Double Standards.

Samthing Soweto’s answer to DJ Maphorisa’s statements has caused a heated controversy on social media. Some fans are calling out the singer for dishonesty.

People began to question the singer’s credibility after he responded to DJ Maphorisa on X about 3 a.m. on Tuesday, alleging that he paid for the master of his album and continued to imply that he lied about DJ Maphorisa producing his record.

Some fans couldn’t help but note the contradiction of him defending his ethics while admitting to lying. The same fans who supported him, as Gen Z says, “Let him cook,” even if it meant burning his own pots.

But the drama didn’t end there. DJ Maphorisa shared a video on X, on Tuesday, responding to Samthing Soweto saying: “Samthing Soweto please don’t make us kids, I asked you on a phone three years ago, I said send me an invoice let’s also pay you so we can be square.”

DJ Maphorisa also continued to say: “You can’t own all the masters what f*** is going on, are bana ba hao (we are not your kids), I’m tired of this going back and forth.”

On X, some users are accusing Samthing Soweto of lying.

One user @Thembixaba50 commented, “Someone who admit to have lied to benefit, comes and say now trust me, I am not lying, you definitely miss the double standards.”

Another user @Krugersville added, “Hau Nodoli, si lele you saying that Phori didn’t contribute anything, not even his electricity and studio, nothing at.”

And user @Vusi_mygy commented that, “ You’ve been in the industry for a decade but you still don’t believe in your talent? Make it make sense! @DjMaphorisa stop entertaining him, its not worth it.”

However, on Facebook, the reaction is different as fans are expressing sympathy for Samthing Soweto.

One of the followers Owase Langeni commented that: “I remember two or three years back when lost a lot of weight and people were making fun of him and he said that he wasn’t well.

“This was just his most successful hits, I’m assuming that while they were getting airply and bookings, Samthing Soweto wasn’t getting paid.”
