On Tuesday, learners and dissatisfied citizens set fire to Pastor Mboro‘s Incredible Happenings Church, prompting ongoing investigations.
Mboro and two others stormed Matshidiso Primary School in Katlehong on Monday and forcibly removed two students. Lieutenant General Tommy Mthombeni, the Gauteng police commissioner, said five persons had been arrested on accusations of intimidation and assault.
It is suspected that Mboro, real name Paseka Motsoeneng, entered the school carrying a machete.
According to the Gauteng Department of Education, a fight between two families over custody of the school’s boy learners in Grade RR and Grade 2 came to a climax on Monday.
According to reports, the children’s mother died in April of this year, sparking a feud between the family’s paternal and maternal sides.
Colonel Noxolo Kweza, a Gauteng police spokeswoman, said that the four are scheduled to appear in Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court soon, and that the fifth individual will join them.
“They are facing a variety of charges including assault, handling a firearm recklessly that could endanger lives and property, rendering security services while not registered, malicious damage to property and intimidation,” according to her.
Kweza stated that the replica firearm and pangas have subsequently been confiscated. One of the accused was apprehended after attacking the Station Commander at Katlehong North Police Station.
