Lady Du, an award-winning star, apologized on social media for her comments about Tyla’s viral Met Gala costume. The actress who recommended Tyla should have worn an African print to the event admitted she had no idea there was a theme.
Lady Du was under fire for allegedly making dubious comments regarding fellow South African musician Tyla’s Met Gala outfit. Tyla stunned in a couture Balmain gown inspired by the Sand motif. Lady Du stated that Tyla should have represented Africa at the Met.
Social media users strongly disagreed with the Tjina hitmaker’s thoughts. Following the outrage, Lady Du apologized on her page. She stated that she was unaware of the event’s topic and had no intention of criticizing the Water vocalist. Part of her tweet reads:
“Guys let me apologise I didn’t know what the theme or occasion was, I saw it after I commented. ❤️❤️❤️❤️ I’m a huge supporter of local brands I commented without knowing what was going on as y’all know I don’t do red-carpet events at all. Even when Lady Du apologized, social media users continued to attack her. Many people suggested she quit talking on subjects that don’t affect her. Some admirers even commented about how she isn’t utilizing her numerous degrees.
