Hot 102.7FM, a local radio station, has won many Best of Johannesburg Readers’ Choice Awards for 2024.
The Johannesburg commercial radio station was just named “Best Local Radio Station” for the third consecutive year.
The station’s breakfast show, presented by Simon Parkinson, Bunny Majaja, and Simon Hill, won Best Local Radio Show for the second consecutive year.
Parkinson also won the Best Local Radio Personality award.
The station won a bronze medal in the extremely competitive New York Festivals Radio Awards in the US earlier this year.
Hot 102.7FM managing director Lloyd Madurai said: “This means so much to us and I’m so proud of the team.
“In particular, there are two aspects to this that really make this a special set of awards.
“Firstly, the fact that these awards are voted for by the people of Joburg and Ekurhuleni – our listeners – and secondly, the fact that we’ve picked up the main award three years running, which speaks to the sort of high-quality consistency that Hot 102.7FM prides itself on.”
The yearly awards, which have been running for 30 years, are the ‘barometer of the best of the best in the city’, encompassing everything from the best restaurants, pubs, and craft markets to the top celebrities, TV personalities, schools, hair stylists, and shopping destinations.
This year, more than 300,000 votes came in.
Other wins were 54 on Bath, which won Best Boutique Hotel; Prison Break Market, which won Best Craft Market; and The Teatro at Montecasino, which was chosen Best Theatre.
