Gogo Skhotheni and her estranged husband, Monde Shange, have reported the death of their two-year-old son, Monde Junior.
Gogo Skhotheni (Tumi Motsoeneng), along with the Motsoeneng and Shange families, confirmed Monde Jr Shange’s death in a media announcement.
“Monde Jr departed this life at 3pm on Monday, September 2nd, 2024, at Busamed Modderfontein Private Hospital,” stated a press release.
The couple’s little child has been unwell from birth and has spent much of his childhood in intensive care facilities.
Monde Jr was born without a stomach tube, underwent numerous surgeries, and ate with a machine.
“The families kindly request privacy as they navigate this deep and painful loss. We ask for your understanding and compassion in giving them the space they need during this difficult time of grieving.
“Psalm 23:4 reminds us, ‘Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me’.”
Last December, Gogo Skhotheni debuted a tattoo on her arm in honour of her son.
“His doctor, Dr Flack, is the best. She comes a long way with my son and she did her best.”
“It has been a difficult journey for all of us as a family but life has to carry on. He was born without a tube that transports food to the stomach so he had major surgeries.
“Doctors tried to make sure he could eat, but they couldn’t so they ended up putting in a tube and he is using a machine to eat,” she told TshisaLive at the time.
