Glamour magazine’s 2024 Women of the Year honors exceptional women in sports, entertainment, and activism.
The event, hosted in New York, honored noteworthy figures such as Olympic gold medalist Suni Lee, actor Taraji P. Henson, Sydney Sweeney, and abortion rights advocates Hadley Duvall and Kaitlyn Joshua.
This year, Glamour also honored a group of “Mothers of the Year,” recognizing the ladies behind some of the world’s most admired celebrities.
Among them were Tina Knowles, mother to Beyoncé, Solange, and Kelly Rowland; Donna Kelce, mother to NFL stars Jason and Travis Kelce; Mandy Teefey, mother of Selena Gomez; and Maggie Baird, mother of Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell.
Tina Knowles, in an emotional speech, said, “The best job I’ve ever had is being a mother. I’ve had the privilege of raising and helping to raise four daughters, two born to me, and two a gift from God.”
Pamela Anderson, one of the Global Women of the Year, shared a powerful message.
“Follow your dreams because your dreams are looking for you too. Sometimes, it just takes a little patience. In my case, it took about 20 or 30 years.”
Donna Kelce, who received the honour for raising two NFL stars, humbly joked, “I just gave birth to two celebrities, but I’m really not one myself.”
Billie Eilish was especially emotional when speaking about her mother, Maggie Baird, praising her activism and intellectual curiosity.
“My mum is the smartest person in the world. She knows so much about everything, from the climate crisis to people and inequity.
“She speaks like she’s been studying it for her entire life, and really, she’s just like such a sponge with information and she just like soaks it all up and wants to share it and help people. she is the best.”
The Glamour Women of the Year event also showcased stunning red carpet fashion, with stars bringing their A-game to the glamorous occasion.
