A five-year-old Durban grade 1 student who went missing after getting into the “wrong taxi” on the first day of school was discovered on Thursday.
Olwethu Ntsethe told TimesLIVE that her son Lindokuhle was found at Sydenham Primary School.
“We are here at the school. The child was here this morning. I cannot give any more details at this moment as we just got here,” she said.
The relief could be heard in her voice.
According to the KwaZulu-Natal education authority, Lindokuhle, a first-year Sydenham Primary School student, took the “wrong” taxi when school was dismissed early owing to severe weather forecasts.
Musi Mahlambi, the department’s spokesperson, said the mother went to three police stations on Wednesday but the youngster was not present.
Late on Thursday night, Ntsethe informed TimesLIVE that she had initiated a missing person report.
She asked others to share a poster to help find her son, as many had mistaken Lindokuhle for a grade R Waterloo child who also took the incorrect taxi home.
The Waterloo kid was reunited with his parents after the cab driver discovered their contact information in his school bag.
Ntsethe told TimesLIVE that she would provide more information on her son’s disappearance later on Thursday .
