DJ Zinhle Set for Durban Gig, Sparking Renewed Debate on Youth Jobs

DJ Zinhle is resuming engagements in Durban and plans to celebrate with fans. Following the murder of her child’s father, Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes, the star initially avoided returning to the city.

DJ Zinhle, an award-winning musician, plans to return to Durban for bookings.

Fans may see DJ Zinhle and other Durban acts at People’s Park at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

DJ Zinhle postponed her performance in Durban due to her emotional response to AKA’s death. On February 10, 2023, the rapper was slain on Florida Road, a busy street. According to TimesLIVE, Zinhle stated:

“I’m not ready for Durban. Emotionally, I’m not ready. I get anxious thinking about being there. It’s going to be a while before I can be there.”

“I’m going through the most. Forget about seeing me in Durban. It’s not that I am mad at Durban. It’s just hard. It’s only been three months since Kiernan died, so maybe with time. But I’m hoping I never change my mind.”

The X post from @TimesLIVE renewed netizens’ fury with the celebrity on her previous statements on youth employment.

“On behalf of South African youth: We are unemployable, and unfortunately, we won’t be able to attend because we will be looking for jobs, and we can’t afford tickets to watch a talentless and boring performance.”

“We will be busy trying to gather some skills and education to be employable.”

“May the employable gang go listen to her, the rest, we shouldn’t bother.”
