Uncle Waffles became the first amapiano DJ to headline the Wireless Festival, which is held yearly in London.

Lungelihle Zwane, known to fans as Uncle Waffles, became the first amapiano act to grace the stage at the sold out show which took place last weekend.

Held annually in London, England, the festival is a rap and hip-hop event that caters to music lovers. This year the line-up consisted of some of the biggest artists like Nicki Minaj, Doja Cat and South African Afropop princess, Tyla, just to name a few.

Uncle Waffles has been making a significant mark in her musical career through her energetic performances and features, her social media presence, and unique fashion style.

Her ability to connect with audiences globally echoed as she was performing for thousands of festival-goers.

She took to social media to express her excitement with her fans and followers.

‘’The only DJ headliner, first DJ to headline in 8 years. Only Amapiano act and I know there are so many more to come,’’ she said.

The last dj to headline the festival was Calvin Harris.

Waffles’ performance at the Wireless Festival continues to elevate the amapiano genre on the global stage. She performed a lively set which showcased the vibrant South African sound to the world, captivating an international audience and proving amapiano’s growing influence in the global music scene.

The set captivated the audience with hits like Tanzania, Mellow & Sleazy’s Christmas Present playing, creating an unforgettable experience for the festival-goers.

Since coming into fame in 2021 with her viral video, playing Young Stunna’s hit song ‘’Adiwele’’, Uncle Waffles has graced international stages and made a name for herself, gaining international recognition from the likes of Ciara, Kaytranada and rapper, Drake who further amplified her fame by following her on Instagram and expressing admiration for her talent.
