Mr Thela stands out from other producers by pioneering what is now known as Cape Town Gqom, Gqom Gospel, Church Groove, or Isghubu.
Mr Thela has continued to push the boundaries of the Gqom music genre after his massive smash album “MAKE CAPE TOWN GREAT AGAIN” in 2020.
The Gqom hitmaker’s recent YouTube milestone, with “Ntinga ntaka ndim” hitting 2 million plays, joins his other most viewed songs “Kwandonga Ziyaduma,” “Cross Night,” and “Strings of Life.”
His record was up for consideration as the ‘Best Gqom record’ at the 2021 SAMAs, and his music is now a popular choice in virtual home parties and on the radio.
Mr Thela has had a number of triumphs, including reaching RiSA gold with his popular single “Kwandonga Ziyaduma”, signing with Universal Music Group, receiving a Metro FM Music Award, and getting a formal partnership deal with SKYY Vodka after recording a 42-minute live session in Kogelbaai.
Mr Thela garnered international followers following a successful international engagement in South Korea, and he now performs for both local and foreign audiences.
