Lula Odiba Leaves Y After Five Years, Joins 5FM

Lula Odiba, a radio broadcaster at Y (previously YFM), is leaving to start a new show at 5FM.

Odiba joins the youth radio station as part of its new lineup, which begins July 1 as part of 5 Lunch weekdays. The experienced hip-hop DJ will also host a new show, 5 Hip-Hop Nights, on Sundays.

Odiba confirmed her departure from Y on Tuesday, with her final show scheduled for Friday, July 21.

5FM also announced the following changes: Nick Hamman, who presently hosts 5 Drive, will now host 5 Breakfast on weekdays. He will join Thabo Baloyi, Xoli Zondo, and Marli van Eeden.

Zanele Potelwa will present 5 Drive weekdays, with Nick Archibald joining from the Top 40 to co-host and anchor traffic.

Yanga Mjoli, Potelwa’s current companion in crime, will also join the 5 Drive crew, transitioning from 5 Lunch to 5 Drive to provide listeners with all of the latest breaking news.

Weekday mid-morning news periods will now include Yonaka Theledi, a familiar voice on 5FM’s weekend news slots, who will join Stephanie Be in the studio.

“It’s Harry, baby!” Harrison Mkhize, who presently hosts 5 Weekend Nights, will host the Top 40 on 5.

“This lineup demonstrates our commitment to enhancing the 5 Nation’s experience through entertainment, music, news, and engaging dialogue – not just riding the waves in the dynamic world of radio, but creating them,” said Masixole Mdingane, 5FM and Good Hope FM PCS Combo’s Business Manager.

“It’s all about honestly connecting with and MOVING young people. It also allows us to push limits and provide creative solutions for our clients in ways we never believed possible. This makes 5FM the ideal venue for marketers wishing to connect with the next generation of leaders.”
