Fuel Prices Likely to Decrease in October

South African customers should expect lower fuel costs in October, following a September decline.

On September 13, 2024, the Central Energy Fund (CEF) provided a daily snapshot indicating that gasoline costs in the country will decrease.

According to the data, this is what the changes are expected to look like:

– Petrol 95: decrease of around 126 cents per litre

– Petrol 93: decrease of around 117 cents per litre

– Diesel (0.05%): decrease of around 109 cents per litre

– Diesel (0.005%): decrease of around 110 cents per litre

– Illuminating paraffin: decrease of around 104 cents per litre

According to the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy (DMRE), the daily snapshots are not predictive and do not account for other potential changes, such as slate levy revisions or retail margin shifts.

According to DMRE data, fuel prices have been declining since June 2024.

For June 2024, 93 leaded fuel costs R23.91 inland and R23.46 on the coast. Unleaded 95 fuel costs R24.25. Diesel (0.05%) costs R20.96 inland and R20.17 along the coast.

In July 2024, 93 leaded fuel costs R22.86 inland and R22.47 along the coast. 95 unleaded gas costs R23.26 inland. Diesel (0.05%) costs R20.66 inland and R19.87 on the coast.

In August 2024, 93 leaded fuel costs R22.71 inland and R22.32 along the coast. Unleaded 95 fuel costs R23.11 inland. Diesel (0.05%) costs R20.38 inland and R19.59 along the coast.

In September 2024, 93 leaded fuel costs R21.79 inland and R21.40 for the cost. Unleaded 95 fuel costs R22.19 inland. Diesel (0.05%) costs R19.59 inland and R18.80 along the coast.
