Anele Mdoda, a South African media personality, came under fire from netizens for speaking out against the Chris Brown issue.
This occurred when the American singer commented on a post by Women For Change, an organization dedicated to raising awareness about gender-based violence and domestic abuse.
Women For Change launched a petition to ban Brown from performing in South Africa in December 2024, citing his history of violence against both genders.
The singer replied on the post, saying “Can’t wait to come” and adding a heart emoji.
That comment angered a lot of followers of the organisation, including Mdoda, who said: “I was not going to comment on this Chris Brown saga cause I think people must do what they want with their money, but this is [and added a sick emoji].”
People on X responded to her message, reminding her that she is not the one to call out Brown while being friends with Somizi Mhlongo, who was convicted of indecent assault in 2008.
Mhlongo was convicted of indecently assaulting Celani Njapha and sentenced to six months in prison and an R6,000 fine.
“Let me point you to your own 🤮 moment of hypocrisy. 2008 Somizi Mhlongo was convicted of sexual assault. But here you were platforming him & selling his story as ‘A story of survival’…
@BabablacksheepK added: “Somizi is a convicted sex offender yet you happily work with him. He also abused his ex-husband.
“Sithelo Shozi slept with a then teenager and had kids by him and you still work with her. People are going to call you out on the double standard.”
