Activist Skhu Launches His Music Career With His Debut Single ‘Aluta Continua’

Sikhumbuzo “Skhu” Thabede, a well-known South African author, has recently opted to pursue a new career path.

Sikhumbuzo “Skhu” Thabede, a well-known author and cultural activist, also started a music career.

According to TshisaLIVE, the author established a career marking 30 years of democracy.

He released his debut track, “Aluta Continua,” which honors South African liberation heroes such Mama Winnie Mandela, Solomon Mahlangu, Lilian Ngoyi, Mangosuthu Buthelezi, and Nelson Mandela.

Thabede told the publication about his debut song:

“Aluta Continua symbolises the ongoing struggle. Even as 2024 marks 30 years of democracy, black people continue to face significant socioeconomic challenges.

“The song reflects on promises made decades ago. While we have gained freedom, the economy and land remain largely inaccessible to black people, and thus, the struggles persist.”

Sikhumbuzo noted that the single previews his next 12-track album, Imvungeyakwantu, which loosely translates to “African rhythmic chants.” The album has duets with notable musicians such as Dr. Tu Nokwe, Zitulele Luu, and emerging sensation Sizwe Ngobese.

In July 2023, The Wife actor Sipho Ndlovu resumed his music career. In 2021, he made his music debut with the song “Amathanga Amhlophe.” He stated that launching an amapiano music career will help him establish his public voice.
