Apply for the Schlumberger Foundation Faculty for the Future Fellowship for Women 2023/2024. Applications are open for the 2024–2025 Faculty for the Future Fellowships from September 5th to November 10th, 2023. launched in 2004, The program aims to award fellowships to women from developing and emerging countries to pursue PhD or Post-doctoral research in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields at leading universities all over the world.

The Schlumberger Foundation Faculty for the Future Fellowship aims to accelerate gender equality in STEM by generating conditions that result in more women undertaking careers in science through breaking some of the barriers they encounter when enrolling in STEM disciplines. This program is committed to gender parity in science and recognizes that full access to and participation in a STEM curriculum is essential for the empowerment of women and girls. The program enables participants to uplift their standards through the various skills and knowledge acquired during the program, essential for their capacity building, developing talent and capacities for the benefit of their local communities, regions and nations.

Around 770 women from 84 countries have benefited from the Faculty for the Future fellowships since its launch in 2004, receiving am opportunity to pursue PhD and Post-doctoral research in STEM in leading universities outside of their countries of residence.

Benefits

  • Selected applicants will receive a fellowship grant worth USD 50,000 per year for a PhD and maximum of USD 40,000 per year for a Post-doc
  • Grant offers may be renewed through to completion of studies, subject to performance, recommendations from supervisors and strong evidence of re-integration plans in the home country.

Eligibility

Applicants for the program are expected to fulfill the following application conditions

  • You must be a female applicant if you are interested in this scholarship
  • Applicants must be citizens of a developing country or emerging economy
  • You must not hold dual citizenship of which one is citizenship of a developed country.
  • Applicants must have applied to, have been admitted to, or be currently enrolled in a PhD or Postdoc Programme at a university abroad when submitting their grant application.
  • Awards in biological sciences are limited to interdisciplinary research between physical and biological sciences.
  • Candidates must hold an excellent academic record, demonstrate leadership skills, community outreach activities and have a track record in encouraging girls and women into STEM fields
  • You should also prove your commitment to return to your home countries upon completion of their studies to contribute to the economic, social and technological advancement of your community
