For the past 12 seasons of Skeem Saam, audiences have witnessed Meikie Maputla’s role as a successful businesswoman and nurturing mother to two successful men.
In season 13, however, Meikie struggles with empty nest syndrome as she bids farewell to Thabo, Mapitsi, and her grandchild Pitsi, who had been living with her.
Thabo and Mapitsi Maputla, portrayed by Hungani Ndlovu and Mogau Motlhatswi, are beginning a fresh chapter in the new season. Viewers have witnessed their transformation from two naive adolescents who fell in love and became teenage parents to Pitsi (played by Lethabo Matsetela), to young adults who went on to get university degrees and establish successful jobs.
Now married and in their new home with a new bundle of joy, Baby Oratile, the couple will confront the new task of managing their occupations, keeping a household, and raising a family without the assistance of Thabo’s parents, Meikie and John Maputla.
Realeboha Khotle will replace Lethabo Matsetela as Pitsi Maputla. The announcement elicited varied reactions from viewers, some of whom expressed concern that they would have to acclimate to a new face, while others expressed grief that they would not be seeing a familiar face.

How are y’all able to watch something after the cast has changed but the character stays the same? 😭😭 having to adjust to a new face & voice would ruin it for me https://t.co/pqOWjxS03c
