WineFest South Africa Taking Place In London

Leading wine critic and master of wine, Tim Atkin, wrote recently that in the past decade “South Africa has become one of the most exciting wine-producing countries on the planet” and declares that “the Cape has never made as many good wines as it does now”. High praise from an expert who regularly tastes wines from every conceivable wine region in the world.

Details of WineFest South Africa

On the 1 September 2019 Wines of South Africa is launching WineFest South Africa, a tasting of hundreds of South Africa’s best wines, at The Yard, 89 & ½ Worship Street, Shoreditch, London, EC2A 2BF. This is your chance to meet winemakers, try loads of great wines and see what makes Tim so enthusiastic about South African wines.

This consumer wine festival, sponsored by DHL, will run in two sessions – 12.00 to 16.00 and 17.00 to 20.00 and at both sessions you will be able to taste your way around South Africa and make new wine discoveries. Exhibitors range from specialist South African importers such as Nekter Wines, Red Squirrel,  Hard to Find Wines and Swig, to newly formed regional grouping, The Agulhas Wine Triange and the Cape Site Specific group, all making wines from specific vineyard sites across the Western Cape. There are so many stories to uncover as you enjoy the wines.

Over sixty wine companies are at the festival, making it one of the biggest South African wine events outside of the Cape and a chance to discover new favourite wines from the huge variety of wines produced in the beautiful Cape Winelands. You can see a list of all the producers on the event website.

South Africans are known for their sunny disposition and hospitality and WineFest South Africa offers up the chance to enjoy that, as the winemakers travel to London to open up their best bottles to try. If hunger strikes, the handmade burgers and hotdogs, served from a super cute camper van, with South African inspired sauces, are on hand to deal with that. South Africa’s favourite snack, biltong, will also be available to purchase during the event.

Tickets cost £24.58 per person, per session. Each visitor will be able to take home their branded Govino glass at the end of the event.
