Uzalo Set To Lose Top Actors Over Pay Dispute

According to reports this week, two of Uzalo’s actors are said to have left the soapie due to issues around low payment

reporters claims that both Leleti Khumalo and Khaya Dladla, two of the soapie’s biggest talents, have left the show under different circumstances relating to their respective salaries.

A source spoke to the local tabloid and revealed that Dladla had been dismissed after asking for a pay rise.

“Khaya’s sin was to ask for a raise and I don’t blame him. He felt he was being underpaid and taken for granted. So after Khaya approached the producers, they decided to terminate his contract, claiming they were cutting costs. I guess addressing such concerns is a serious crime.”

Leleti Khumalo, whose acting has largely contributed to the success of the show over the years, has also left the show if the report is to be believed.

Their source claimed that the legendary actress called it quits after finding out that the cast’s salaries would be cut in half

“She felt she’d done everything for the show. Remember, Leleti is a legend and knows her story. So, she wouldn’t stick around waiting for her salary to be cut in half,”

The same source didn’t seem to be optimistic about the show’s future:

“Uzalo is a financial mess and sometimes actors are paid after the due date. It’s no longer the same. Besides, Leleti is a big brand and will find work soon. And I wouldn’t be surprised to hear of some of the leading actors following suit.”

We’ll be on the lookout for more details as this story develops.
