UPDATE: No Reports Of Flooding In Pretoria On Wednesday

The Tshwane emergency services said on Wednesday morning there had not been any report of flooding in Pretoria.

On Tuesday afternoon, flash flooding was reported in Centurion after the Hennops River overflowed into Lenchen Avenue, West, End and Rabie streets.

This came after a warning of flooding around low-lying areas was issued by the emergency services on Tuesday.

Spokesperson Johan Pieterse said the department was on high alert and were monitoring areas at risk of flooding.

However, the SA weather service said it was expecting the heavy rainfall to start dying down from Thursday.

“There’s still a good chance of thundershowers Wednesday afternoon, with a 80 percent chance.”

“But from Thursday we don’t expect a significant amount of rainfall, with just 30 percent chance forecasted for the rest of the week,” forecaster Wayne Venter said.

Pieterse said several areas in Centurion were flooded on Tuesday afternoon, but the water levels have since subsided in all the areas.

Low-lying bridges at risk of being flooded are those at:

– Rabie and End streets.

– Nellmapius Road and Albert Street.

– End and Witstinkhout streets.

– Lenchen South Street (between West Street and Embankment Road).
