Kaizer Chiefs defender Tsepo Masilela says he might want to finish his professional career at Naturena, however it’s not up to him.
The 32-year-old ex Bafana defender is as of now out nursing a lower leg damage which he sustained last September and has shown up for the Soweto gaints this season.
There has been huge speculation regarding Masilela’s future with the Amakhosi, which led to his agent Mike Makaab of Prosport International revealing that talks over a new contract have been put on hold until his client recovers from his injury.
Masilela was diplomatic when he was quizzed about his future.
“It’s football, you can’t really predict the future or plan the future,” he told reporters.
“If it was only up to me… yes, at Kaizer Chiefs but you know how it goes…it’s two parties involved. It’s negotiations and it’s really not up to me. I haven’t had a perfect career but to be honest I’m happy and grateful for what I’ve achieved. We’ll see how it goes,” the defender concluded.
Masilela is back in training, but knows it will take some time before he returns to the pitch.
“It’s very frustrating. But it’s football and I have to be patient. I’m back at training and I am feeling good. It will take time but I’m feeling good now, running on the full now and that’s what makes me happy.
Masilela is also adamant that he still has enough in his tank to play for a few more seasons.
“Yeah, I’m 32. I think I still have a couple more years, obviously I will see after this injury when I’m back on my feet. It goes with the passion and the passion is still there. I still want to win trophies. As long as the passion is there and the body [is fine],” Masilela concluded.
