Mzansi Magic reality TV couple “Ntombi” Tshabalala and “Ace” Khumalo were released on R1 000 bail over a month ago.
The couple, who won Big Brother Mzansi: Double Trouble in 2015, were arrested on Tuesday for possession of drugs.
Lieutenant Kay Makhubela said police officers who were on night shift duty were alerted by the public about a suspicious vehicle in Claremont, Sophiatown.
He says the police followed up on the tip off. When they searched the vehicle, they found dagga, a grinder and ecstasy.
The couple is expected to appear at Sophiatown Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
Ace and Ntombi became fan favourites during the Big Brother Mzansi: Double Trouble reality show in 2015 and walked away with R2 million.
In a DESTINY interview, the couple shared their plans and how they intended to spend their winnings. They said they were inspired to enter the show as they wanted to improve their son’s standard of living.
“Our biggest inspiration was our son and we always wanted to be in the entertainment industry. We also just wanted to see how the industry and the people would receive us. Now we know,” Ace said in 2015.
They had big plans, including pursuing careers in the entertainment industry.
“We want to take things easy and really think about what we are going to do with the money. We would like to educate ourselves more. We also want to sit down with our families so that we can have a proper plan on how we are going to spend the money,” said Ace.
