Six Players Who Could Join The Mamelodi Sundowns PSL Champs, As Transfer Windows Opens Soon

The transfer window opens in a matter of weeks, and Mamelodi Sundowns will have been hard at work behind the scenes looking to bolster their squad.

The nine-time league champions face another long season which will see them involved in no less than five competitions, having qualified for the Caf Champions League as well as the MTN 8.

This calls for squad depth and, despite being well stocked already in that department, there are some areas where they will be looking to strengthen in, as well as replace some players who could be looking elsewhere after limited game time in the previous campaign.

Having lost some considerable attacking firepower in the form of Percy Tau and Khama Billiat ahead of the 2017/18 season, the Tshwane giants will be looking to rebuild up front, and their rumoured shopping list is not short of strikers.

Grant Magerman – Ajax Cape Town

Magerman’s days at Ajax Cape Town look numbered after the club failed to gain promotion to the top flight.

The 21-year-old has expressed a desire to return to the PSL and Sundowns are front runners for his signature.

Aubrey Modiba – Supersport United

Supersport United utility player Aubrey Modiba has long been linked with Sundowns and, recently, it’s been revealed that the Brazilians have gone as far as making an offer for his services.

However, a move is unlikely unless forced by the player, as Matsatsansa have so far rejected the offer.

Teboho Mokoena – Supersport United

Also, approached by the Brazilians along with Modiba but, like his teammate, a move across town is unlikely amid interest from abroad.

Evans Rusike – Supersport United

Another Supersport United player linked with a move across town is striker Evans Rusike, who is also reportedly on Kaizer Chiefs radar.

Mwape Musonda – Black Leopards

After banging in 16 goals last season to finish as the PSL top goal scorer, Mwape Musonda has earned his fair share of admirers, with Sundowns name also popping up alongside Kaizer Chiefs, as well as his former side Orlando Pirates.

Abbubaker Mobara – Orlando Pirates

Former SA youth international Mobara’s career has somewhat stalled since Milutin Sredojevic’s arrival at Pirates and has been linked with top PSL clubs such as Sundowns and Bidvest Wits.
