Rapper Sho Madjozi will be performing at the crowning of the 2019 Miss South Africa which will be taking place at Time Square Arena in Pretoria on Woman’s day 9 August 2019.
The artist is among the musical acts that will provide additional entertainment on the most glamorous night of the year, joining her will be Amanda Black, Rowlene, Jesse Clegg, Nasty C as well as host Bonang Matheba and the house of BNG.
The pageant was delayed by the withdrawal of its main sponsor earlier this year but the postponement appears to have worked out as the event is now set to be fittingly held on Woman’s Day. A new sponsor, LFP, along with the continued backing of Sun International and broadcast partners multichoice have ensured that the glitzy evening is likely to be one of the grandest Miss SA pageants ever.
Miss South Africa will go above and beyond what pageants normally achieve this year, as they seek to honour women who have been influential in their community with a Mother of the Nation award which is open to nominations from the public.
Miss SA has also drafted in some performers who are themselves inspirational women. Sho Madjozi walked away with a BET award earlier this year for Best New International Act.
“My story is testament that you can come from any village, in any forgotten part of the world, and still be a superstar. For girls that come from where I am from, which is Limpopo, I just want to say that you don’t need to change who you are, you can still be big,” an emotional Sho said at the awards in Los Angeles.
Amanda Black and Bonang are also set to perform with the head of the house of BNG roped in as host for the evening.
Apple Music’s most-streamed South African artist Nasty C is also on the bill along with musical protege Rowlene, the first woman signed to the rapper’s label.
Son of late musical icon Johnny Clegg, Jesse. will grace the stage less than a month after Mzansi lost the musical legend to cancer.
The show starts at 17:00 on 9 August and will be broadcast live on M-Net and Mzansi Magic.
