SA Celebrities That Have Beefs With Local Airlines

South African celebrities mostly find themselves travelling from city to city on a regular basis so it comes as no surprise that flying is their preferred method of travel
Their journeys are usually smooth, but when their relationships with airlines get a little turbulent, these stars are never shy to share their true feelings with the rest of South Africa.

Here are just a few times that South African celebrities found themselves beefing with local airlines after things went wrong mid-air.

Black Motion vs British Airways

In one of the most recent-high profile airline-celeb beefs, Black Motion threatened to sue British Airways to the tune of R3,7 million after they were dismissed from one of the airline’s local flights in what they felt was a racially motivated move.

Jeannie D vs FlySafair

FlySafair claims to be the most punctual airline on the planet but Jeannie D was left fuming when her flight was delayed for over two hours.

It didn’t help when one of their staff members tried to joke about the entire situation.

AKA vs SAA

AKA found himself at the centre of a heated discussion when he suggested that national carrier, South African Airways, plays more South African music.

AKA has since deleted the tweet but the airline took the criticism on board.

Mihlali vs FlySafair

In one of the most heated battles of the year, influencer Mihlali Ndamase accused FlySafair of racist treatment after one of their staff members allegedly told her and her friends to stop behaving like animals.

It was later revealed that Mihlali was under the influence of alcohol although that doesn’t excuse the slur.

Bonang vs SAA

When Bonang Matheba is unhappy, the nation is unhappy.

The presenter called out SAA for the poor quality of their food and when their social media manager replied with a spicy comment, the queen was less than pleased.

Cassper vs SAA – no, Airlink – no, SAA!

Cassper Nyovest thought he was complaining about South African Airways after his flight was not only delayed but grounded while he was on board.

His complaint was valid, but the issue is that he was targeting the wrong airline – the culprit was actually Airlink, whose branding is quite similar to SAA’s. However, Cassper put them in their place by clarifying which airline he was actually on.

Gabisile Tshabalala vs FlySafair

Gabisile Tshabalala is the latest celebrity to complain about FlySafair, after their staff mismanaged her booking, causing her to miss an early-morning domestic flight.

She wasn’t at all pleased, and took to Twitter to report the incident.

Babes Wodumo vs Mango

Babes Wodumo is a relative newcomer to air travel but she has already had as bad an experience as many experienced travellers.

The Gqom Queen was livid after her dancers’ luggage went missing during a Mango flight.
