Prophet Shepherd Bushiri Has No Access to Private Jet After Court Application

ECG Church’s Shepherd Bushiri reportedly does not currently have access to his private plane.

The NPA has said that a curator is looking after the jet, but that Bushiri will not be able to use it.

This comes after Bushiri and his wife’s arrest on fraud and money laundering charges.

The Bushiris have been accused of being involved in extensive fradulent activities. Shepherd Bushiri, who is a self-proclaimed prophet, has also come under scrutiny for some of the activities of his church.

The Enlightened Christian Gathering church was locked in months of negotiations with SANCO following a stampede on the premises last year which killed three women.

Bushiri’s residency in South Africa is also under investigation. He received permanent residency in 2016, but his church has been operational since 2012.

The Bushiris are currently out on bail for the corruption charges, for which they were forced to pay R100 000 each. They are reportedly being represented by noted defence advocate, Barry Roux. His fee is said to be R50 000 a day.

Additionally, the NPA has applied for a preservation order against the couple, while the Asset Forfeiture Unit has applied to attach several of the couple’s luxury possessions, like their expensive cars and, of course, their R20 million private jet.

The Bushiris have until the end of the week to oppose the application to seize the jet.
