Gugulethu Khumalo, also known as Berita, announced in 2022 that she had split from her spouse, Nhlamulo “Nota” Baloyi, a contentious pop culture pundit and podcaster.
Baloyi announced the couple’s divorce on social media after two years of marriage.
On Instagram Baloyi wrote; “Marital status: DIVORCED!”, and on X he shared lessons with his followers about his divorce.
“The lesson is to make sure she leaves with nothing of yours & loses half of everything she gained… Another lesson is marry in your class. Bringing someone up out of poverty is like going to bed with a snake that is starving itself to build up the appetite to swallow you whole,” he tweeted.
Berita and Nota’s breakup was acrimonious, and after she left their house, he continued to write about her online, frequently referring to her as his wife.
In a previous post, he claimed Bertia stole his robe and requested assistance from South African authorities in recovering it.

In an interview with Kaya959 last year, Berita discussed her choice to leave her violent marriage after discovering it through therapy.
“I spent an hour and a-half telling him exactly what was going on in the relationship, and the entire time I thought it was rage. This is someone who is going through stuff. The day I learned that I was in an abusive relationship, I did not stay one minute and made plans to get out of there,” she said.
