For Ladies: Tips on How to Make Your Hair Soft and Silky

You don’t need a top celebrity hairstylist to get silky, soft hair; there are more than enough home hair care tricks you can use to keep your hair in the best condition. Keeping your hair well-trimmed will stop split ends and keep it neat but, other than that, all your hair need is a little bit of TLC. So, ditch all those expensive hair care products you have in your bathroom cabinet and check out these ten great tips on how to make your hair soft, shiny and silky.

1. Stop rubbing your hair dry with a towel

To keep your hair in the best condition possible, you just need to be gentle with it. When you get out of the shower, your hair will have been weakened by the hot water, so don’t rub it dry with a towel, blot it instead. In fact, the best thing to use to dry your hair is a T-shirt. They are much more absorbent than a regular towel and they won’t do as much damage.

2. Clarify with apple cider vinegar

Over time, products like hairspray and gels build up on your hair and that will make it look dull and lifeless. All you need to do to remove that product build up is to use an apple cider vinegar rinse on your hair. Just dilute a quarter of a cup of apple cider vinegar with a cup of water, and work that through your hair after you have shampooed it. Finish with a cold water rinse, and all the gunk will have been removed from your hair, making it look super shiny and healthy!

3. Aloe vera hair serum

This is one of very effective home remedies for silky hair that will give an amazing deep down conditioning treatment for your locks. It includes some of the best natural ingredients that you can use on your hair. Mix two tablespoons of aloe vera gel with teaspoon honey and teaspoon of olive oil. Run that through wet hair with your hands, leave it to sit for thirty minutes, and then wash out. You’ll be amazed how soft and silky your hair will be after this treatment.

4. Don’t over-wash your hair

Over-shampooing can strip all the natural oils out of your hair and that will make it lose its shine and bounce. It will also make your hair dry and brittle, so it will be more prone to breakage. Unless your hair gets very oily, you shouldn’t need to wash it every single day. Try washing it only every other day to start with and, if you can get away with it, go two to five days between shampoos. If it does work for you, shampooing less frequently could greatly improve the texture of your hair.

5. Try an avocado mask

If your hair does get dry and brittle, you can easily give it a bit of boost with some natural hair care treatments. One of the best of these is an avocado hair mask. To make the perfect avocado hair mask; mash up one ripe avocado with two tablespoons of honey and two tablespoons of olive oil. Spread the mixture evenly through your hair and then leave it on for about fifteen minutes before you wash it out again.

6. Stop using the blow dryer

The best way to dry your hair, if you want silky soft hair, is to simply let it dry in the air. The blow dryer may be very convenient, but it dries out your hair every time you use it. If you are in a rush and you need to blow dry your hair, set the temperature setting down low and use a diffuser. That will help stop the heat damaging your hair quite so much.

7. Try a beer rinse

Another great tip on how to make your hair soft and silky is to try a beer rinse. Beer works really well as a tonic for hair. It helps to repair damaged hair and it will provide nourishment for the follicles. Shampoo and rinse your hair as usual and then, massage some beer into your scalp and hair. Allow it to sit for ten minutes and then rinse it out again with warm water. A beer rinse works virtually straight away, so you should see a difference in your hair after just a single application.

8. Nourish hair with coconut oil

Next good tip on how to make your hair soft and really shiny is to keep it nourished and hydrated, and one of the best oils for gorgeous, silky hair is coconut oil. It’s great for putting the shine and bounce back into dry hair. Simply warm up some coconut oil and then massage it into your hair and scalp. Put your hair up in a shower cap and leave it on for about half an hour. When you shampoo it out with a mild shampoo, you will find that your hair is lovely and silky again.

9. Buy some satin pillowcases

Invest in some satin pillowcases and then your hair won’t get so tangled at night. Cotton pillow cases tend to catch the hair, so, as you move around in your sleep, your hair will get tangled and could break. Satin pillowcases are much softer and smoother, so they won’t damage your hair in the same way.

10. Don’t rinse all the conditioner out of your hair

Most people love that squeaky clean feeling to their hair when they have shampooed, conditioned and rinsed but, if you don’t rinse all of the conditioner out, it will carry on doing its job all through the day. The next time you shampoo, try rinsing your hair just enough, so the strands are still a bit slippery. See what you think, you might be surprised at the results you get.
