Kaizer Chiefs will have to do without Ramahlwe Mphahlele when they go into this weekend’s Nedbank Cup clash, with the player serving a one-game suspension.
The 28-year-old Ramahlwe Mphahlele recently made his way back from a long-term injury and has recently managed to win back his regular spot in the side, playing 90 minutes in last weekend’s Soweto Derby as the Amakhosi went down 3-1.
‘Rama’, however, was booked in the 52nd minute of the tie shortly after the Buccaneers took the lead, his fourth yellow card of the campaign, and now has to sit out the next game.
With Chiefs now fifth in the Absa Premiership and eight points behind Mamelodi Sundowns, it seems like their chances of winning the league have gone out of the window, meaning that the Nedbank is now their last chance of securing some silverware before the season comes to an end.
It remains to be seen who Steve Komphela will opt to use in Mphahlele’s absence, although Joseph Molangoane and Kgotso Moleko were both used in his position during this injury earlier in the campaign.
Chiefs take on Stellenbosch in Durban on Saturday evening.
