Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to work closely with a Senior Management Team and to play a major role in the management and strategic development of a vibrant school as the School of Design? Are you keen to work in a fast paced and innovative environment? Do you have excellent business and resources management skills and the ability to lead a team of admin and technical staff?
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, highly motivated, and proactive manager to contribute to the future direction of the School of Design. The School of Design is a unique school due to its diverse nature. It encompasses subject areas that range from Art, to Design, to Technology, to pure Science, and houses state of the art facilities to support teaching, research, CPD training and services to external companies within these areas. Collaboration with industry is core to the School of Design, as is the generation of cutting-edge research and knowledge with high impact and benefit to society and the environment.
In the last couple of years, the School of Design has been a pioneer and leader of online professional development and fully online Masters provision, delivering CPD training to hundreds of employees in global companies across the world. It also launched the Leeds Institute of Textiles and Colour (LITAC), a multi-million pound investment by the University of Leeds and The Clothworkers Company. These and other initiatives will culminate at the 150 years anniversary of the School of Design in 2024 and will serve as the basis for further plans of equal ambition and strategic vision.
As the Schools Business and Resources Manager, you will have the ability to effectively manage competing priorities, evidencing effective time and workload management with the reward of effecting change and enhancing the School’s future development. You will be working closely with the Head of School and Senior Management Team, playing a major role in co-ordination of the School’s activities, including strategic development, planning, performance monitoring and liaison with external partners.
Your excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills, along with a pragmatic and creative approach will be essential in the development and delivery of the School’s business and strategy. You will have managerial and administrative experience within a large and complex institution and proven experience of managing, resources, facilities and infrastructure.
