A letter written to President Ramaphosa makes it clear that the world is watching what’s going on over here.
The United Kingdom, Switzerland, Germany, United States and The Netherlands’ leaders all signed the letter, according to a report by The South African.
The countries reportedly threatened to cut any foreign investment if corruption isn’t sorted out in South Africa.
It’s clear that the world’s leaders are keeping a close eye on what’s happening with regards to matters like the State Capture Inquiry.
We have been watching the revelations of the Zondo and other commissions very attentively. The commission is also being followed very closely from abroad,
in our home countries. No investor would venture to come to SA without proper and comprehensive guarantees for their investment.
We need to trust sustainable, legal frameworks for domestic activities. Ever-modified rules of the game and changing of the goalposts for mining, BBBEE and intellectual property rights has created uncertainty that hampers investment.
The ball is in Ramaphosa’s hand now.
