Dead, fired and retired police officers are among hundreds of alleged former Umkhonto we Sizwe and Azanian People’s Liberation Army soldiers set to benefit from seemingly irregular promotions expected to cost taxpayers nearly R700-million.

Documents in possession of the Solidarity union have revealed that between November 1 2018 and 2021, 601 low-ranking police officials will be catapulted into new senior positions where they will earn multimillion-rand salaries.
