Cyril Ramaphosa has asked the courts to rule that he complied with the remedial action ordered by Busisiwe Mkhwebane against Pravin Gordhan.
However, Mkhwebane’s counsel Dali Mpofu says that Cyril Ramaphosa’s application has no merit whatsoever.
Mpofu argues that Ramaphosa has not yet taken the recommended action, which is evidence that he has not complied.
Additionally, Mpofu pointed out that Mkhwebane had stated that Ramaphosa should put together indicating how he would implement the remedial action within 30 days of the report, We have gathered. Mpofu says that the president did not do so, according toTimes Live.
Mpofu also says that by dragging his feet in implementing the remedial action, Ramaphosa is “paralysing” the country.
“The whole country must be held at ransom for four to five years, until Mr Gordhan and Mr Ramaphosa are out of office, to do a simple disciplinary procedure,” Mpofu said.
He added that if the courts ruled in favour of Ramaphosa, this would amount to “degeneration of justice and abuse of power”.
