DA Protesters Gather To Protest Against VAT Increase (Photos)

DA members protesting the increase in VAT gathered at the old Putco depot in Marabastad this morning.

The crowd will march to the National Treasury in the city centre to oppose government’s decision to increase Value Added Tax (VAT).

Singing and chanting, they insist the ANC-led government has been stealing money from the poor while creating few job opportunities for the poor.

Instead of increasing VAT, the protesters said the government should focus on rooting out corruption, reducing the number of redundant ministries and creating jobs.

The DA said in a statement the increase of VAT will hit the pockets of all South Africans, especially the poor and unemployed as food and transport costs will skyrocket.
