Kaizer Chiefs are relied upon to have a touch of an upgrade next season as they hope to attempt and return to winning courses – with or without Steve Komphela – yet who needs to go?
Komphela has been credited with the emergence of several young players during his time with the Amakhosi, with the likes of Siyabonga Ngezana, Wiseman Meyiwa, Ryan Moon and Dumisani Zuma all coming on board to lower the average age.
However, that being said, there are also several young players at the club that could do with some game time elsewhere before being given the chance to become Amakhosi regulars.
Players such as Brylon Petersen, Yusuf Bunting and Bruce Bvuma, who are all 22, haven’t made a single Absa Premiership appearance for the Glamour Boys this season, while Emmanuel Letlotlo – also 22 – could use a loan move to get back to form after a lengthy injury.
Siphosakhe Ntiya-Ntiya, 21, and Khotso Malope, 23, have managed to make a handful of appearances between them, but have evidently not been deemed ready enough to hold down a regular place in the side.
Meanwhile, older players such as Keagan Buchanan and Sibusiso Khumalo still have time left on their contracts but don’t seem to be part of the plans, and could seek a loan move next season if that doesn’t change.
