‘Check On Each Other’-DJ Black Coffee Advises Fellow Artists after Nichume Siwundla’s Death

After the death of popular South African house singer, Nichume shook the local music world by surprise, many celebrities have poured in tributes expressing their shocks as to why the late ‘Bhutiza’ crooner could commit suicide. Amongst local celebrities to lend their opinions on this is popular DJ Black Coffee.

DJ Black Coffee has addressed what is missing between artists: involvement. He called on artists to always check on each other.

The suicide of house vocalist, Nichume Siwundla, famous for her hit track Bhutiza, has left Mzansi saddened.

Nichume was found at a friend’s place after taking her own life, according to TimesLIVE. Other than that, there had been no further information about her sudden passing, at least for now.

DJ Black Coffee feels that tragic deaths like Nichume’s happen because artists don’t look out for each other.

He called on musicians and those in the music industry to start checking on each other.

Perhaps if artists cared more about each other than getting to the top, things would be a little bit different. Meanwhile, Nichume’s mentor and fellow musician, Mobi Dixon who featured Nichume on his hit single, Buthiza, explained how devastated he is over Nichume’s death in a statement released by Nichume’s record label, Top Chap Media.

He said: “I’m distraught. I will remember Nichume as a bright light at Top Chap Media where we signed her. She truly is gone too soon. May her soul rest in peace.”
