Caster Semenya continued her quest for Olympic gold by qualifying for the final of the women’s 800m on Thursday night (Friday morning South African time).
Caster Semenya inched one step closer to Olympic gold after qualifying for the final of the women’s 800m with a time of 1.58.15. It was the fastest of all qualifiers and she looked more comfortable than anyone else on the track.
Semenya, who looked comfortable in the first race on Wednesday afternoon, despite saying it was hot and uncomfortable, looked equally at ease in the semi-final.
While she has the fastest time of all 800m runners this year, the semis and the heats have shown that there certainly are a few athletes who will challenge for the gold medal.
The final will take place on Sunday morning at 2:15 South African time.
