New scholarships are included in the new cycle of more than 105 opportunities. These include a $10,000 scholarship for a student pursuing a degree in aeronautical, electrical, or mechanical engineering or space studies with a desire to work in the space industry, as well as a $5,000 scholarship for a student currently enrolled in an aviation maintenance technician program or pursuing a degree in aviation maintenance technology.
The Conrad N. Hilton Foundation is behind both. The Hilton Foundation is also providing two $5,000 instrument rating scholarships, two $6,000 multiengine training scholarships, and two $5,000 private pilot training scholarships. In addition, Boeing Co. is providing five professional flight training scholarships at $20,000 each.
To be eligible to apply, you must be a WAI member by October 1 and active through March 24. Its name notwithstanding, WAI membership is open to women and men from all segments of the aviation industry.
The deadline for applications is October 12. Applications for most scholarships can be submitted online; however, some scholarships require mailed applications.
A scholarship application link is posted on the WAI website, and descriptions of each scholarship are also available online.
