As part of the The Faculty of Health, the Peninsula Medical School strongest delivers excellent teaching across a suite of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The MSc in Healthcare Management, Leadership and Innovation course is designed to be a highly flexible entry into management within the health and care service. We are looking for candidates that have an interests in leadership, quality improvement, innovation methodology, organisation development, patient safety, or education. The School is also growing and strengthening it’s research profile and offers significant opportunities for any candidate who wishes to establish their research career trajectory including in the area of education and scholarship. This is an exciting opportunity to join an innovative, forward focused and exciting Postgraduate team within the School.
To develop and deliver high quality research-led and professionally relevant teaching across designated programmes, and to undertake research, scholarship, leadership, management and engagement activities. The Peninsula Medical School is seeking an outstanding permanent up to 1FTE Lecturer to join its innovative core Postgraduate Taught education team. Applications will be considered for either the 1FTE post or a smaller FTE component if desirable.
You will work in conjunction with other clinical and academic colleagues across the MSc in Healthcare Management, Leadership and Innovation as well as the other postgraduate medical education programmes. A key area of activity will include their involvement in delivering and evolving the School’s Postgraduate Taught programmes of Healthcare Management, Leadership and Innovation (HMLI). You will also be required to contribute to relevant modules on other programmes within the Medical School, as and when required – and in particular to the development of a programme of continuing professional development (CPD) modules to complement the business delivery of the School.
You should have prior experience of working with a broad range of customers/stakeholders. In addition, the candidate requires effective inter-personal skills and be willing to communicate with students, Academic and Clinical staff to develop and maintain existing relationships, using a skilled approach to planning, managing, organising and objectively assessing own teaching and research contributions. This is an exciting time fo HIMLI, as we develop an e-learning delivery of the programme that will increase our reach and accessibility.
You will work as part of a small team, alongside academic, professional services and clinical staff ensuring the provision of a high quality learning and development of the HMLI Programme. Some of these facilities are available in the Clinical Skills Resource Centre, located in the John Bull Building and so a willingness to travel between sites, will be required periodically.
This is a permenant appointment, that will be based in the Peninsula Medical School’s Learning Environment and/or the John Bull Building based in Derriford, of Plymouth.
There is an essential requirement within this role that you will be required to travel to and work at different University sites and/or other business locations that may not be easily accessible by public transport. Please refer to the job description for further information.
