Why Is Zuma Yet To Face Disciplinary Action- Lindiwe Sisulu

The ANC presidential candidate has questioned why disciplinary action has not been taken against the president.

Presidential candidate Lindiwe Sisulu has been campaigning for the president to undergo the ANC’s disciplinary process because he brought the party into disrepute

It was confirmed Zuma had been involved in scandals that were detrimental to the political party after ANC secretary-general Gwede Mantashe presented a diagnostic report earlier in the year.

Sisulu expressed her disapproval of President Zuma not appearing before a disciplinary committee.

“I have been insisting that there must be a disciplinary process so that if there is an interpretation that if you put the ANC into disrepute, that is an offence.”

This is worrying to her, especially since it was agreed upon at the ANC policy conference that Zuma had discredited the party.

“If we all agreed at the policy conference that that is what happened to the president, why was he not taken through a disciplinary process? We have an integrity committee [and if they fail] they should take the matter to the disciplinary committee,” Sisulu said.

She also added if Zuma were to be found guilty of the alleged offence, he should be suspended.

Sisulu has launched her own presidential campaign, and is set to go up against Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma and Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa at the elective conference in December.
