A Limpopo man called black beach goers cockroaches in a latest Facebook rant According to a publicly available document, the Limpopo man whose name is Phillip Roodt put up a post on his facebook page where he complained about how blacks crowded the beach in Amanzimtoti, south of Durban. Describing black beachgoers as cockroaches who stole money to go on holiday, the Limpopo man said he hoped they would drown one by one.
59 year-old Roodt is self-employed as a boilermaker and he resides in Naboomspruit. Repeated attempts to contact Roodt for comment, via telephone and via Facebook, were unsuccessful at the time of publishing.
His comments were made weeks after a Sandton man embroiled in a Facebook race row attempted to delete the controversial comments that landed him in hot water and after a KwaZulu-Natal South Coast real estate agent Penny Sparrow was exposed for her racist Facebook comments.
The Umzinto Equality Court ordered Sparrow to pay R150 000 to the Oliver and Adelaide Tambo Foundation for comparing blacks to monkeys. Once the Equality Court matter was finalised, Sparrow faced the criminal charge of crimen injuria. She entered into a plea bargain agreement and, in September, the Scottburgh Magistrate’s Court fined her R5 000 and sentenced her to a further two years’ imprisonment, suspended for five years. Similarly, Ben Sasonof, of Sandton tried to delete his facebook post where he compared black bathers to faeces.
He wrote: “Eh eh Wena…must have smelt like the inside of Zuma’s asshole,” with the apparent reference to President Jacob Zuma. After being slammed for his comments, Ben Sasonof wrote: “So fuck you and your bf. Go suck on Zuma’s dirty, tyrant asshole if you love it so much.”
He also lashed out at one of his detractors directly, calling him a monkey. “Mohammed Jameel Abdulla you’re a fuckin little idiot! Every person you tagged there is a friend of mine from school! I dated a black girl you fuckin idiot fuck! Stupid Monkey bastard you!” he said.
