In a special ceremony at Edinburgh Zoo in Scotland, the world’s most decorated penguin, Sir Nils Olav, received another gong to add to his glittering collection when he was promoted in rank by the Norwegian military.
According to a report by Dailymail, the king penguin who wore a gold military pin as he proudly paraded his way up the zoo’s Penguin Walk, whilst the soldiers of the guard stood to attention, was promoted to Brigadier by his Majesty the King of Norway’s Guard.
The Royal Zoological Society of Scotland’s Barbara Smith, at the ceremony said: ‘We are honoured to host His Majesty the King of Norway’s Guard as they bestow a prestigious new title upon our king penguin, Sir Nils Olav.
‘It is a very proud moment and represents the close collaboration between our two countries, Scotland and Norway.’
Over 50 soldiers were in attendance to watch their favourite penguin get rewarded for his years of dedicated service.
