Malema spent his Christmas with the kids at his hometown of Seshego, in Polokwane. As gathered, the children all gathered at his home from surrounding areas and townships. Many of them came from poverty stricken backgrounds and have not had good Christmas for the first time.
Speaking at the event, Juju said he decided to spend this year’s Christmas with the children because children are special gifts from God. Malema added that his decision to spend the day with the “poor of the poorest” is born out of his desire to encourage children to strife for the best.
He said: “Our children come from poverty-stricken backgrounds. Many of them never experienced very joyful Christmas and we thought it is important to remember children, especially on this important day when we celebrate with the poor of the poorest. They will have a Christmas to remember because of the efforts of the EFF. And you can see the beautiful smiles from our children that indeed they really appreciate the little that we are sharing with them.”
Mr Julius Sello Malema also encouraged the children to love education, study harder, shun drug, love and respect their parents, and above all go for the best in life.
“I asked them not to take drugs; to love education and to respect their parents; to respect their teachers, so that we can produce the next president of South Africa amongst these children. Because they constitute the future of South Africa and the entire African continent, so I thought I should remind them to love education … because education is the one that will take them out of poverty.”
The children, who apparently had fun throughout the colourful event were also entertained by some actors of SABC 1 soapie Skeem Saam.
